Ethel Ramos, entertainment columnist and talent manager, dies at 87

MANILA, Philippines – Veteran talent manager and entertainment columnist Ethel Ramos has died at the age of 87, her niece Farah confirmed on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Ramos died on Sunday afternoon at around 5:38 p.m., according to a statement issued by her niece on Facebook. No cause of death was mentioned.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dearest Tita Ethel Ramos today, September 10 , 5:38 p.m. She was 87. The family requests for prayers at this time of great sorrow and grief,” Farah’s post read.

As a way of celebrating Ramos’ life, a wake will be held at the Nacional Chapels and Crematory in Quezon City starting today until Sept. 13.

“Friends and family who wish to pay their last respects may do so beginning [at] 2 p.m.
Daily mass is at 6 p.m.,” her niece wrote in a separate post.

The remains of the veteran columnist be cremated on Sept. 14 at around 12 noon.

“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng pagmamahal at pakikiramay (Thank you very much to everyone who expressed their love and sympathies),” Farah added.

Known among showbiz circles as the “Dean of Entertainment Writers,” Ramos is known for being welcoming and approachable in events, even when it comes to interacting with industry newbies.

Ramos, who graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, was the talent manager of actors like Aga Muhlach and Angel Locsin.
