Trust.
That’s the main thing that keeps Jak Roberto’s relationship with Barbie Forteza strong and intact, despite the latter being part of the popular “BarDa” love team with David Licauco.
“Tiwala lang sa isa’t-isa. There’s assurance. And we protect each other’s feelings,” he said at a recent press conference for the GMA 7 series “The Missing Husband.”
Because of their unexpected chemistry in the hit drama fantasy series “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” Barbie and David ended up attracting a huge and devoted fanbase, who can’t help but feel “kilig” over their sweet online interactions and antics.
But while most fans know that Barbie is in a long-term relationship with Jak, and that the actress’ partnership with David is only for reel, there are overzealous followers wishing that the two end up together in real life. At times, even the mere mention of Jak’s name prompts bashing and insults.
“You can’t please everyone. Every artist or team-up has its own fanbase. But I’m happy that there are still people who are concerned about me. I just let the people argue in the comments section,” he said.
Unbothered
While some observers feel bad about Jak’s situation, there are others who commend the actor for being a secure and supportive boyfriend. Doesn’t he feel jealous when Barbie and David do fan service?
Instead of letting all the noise get to him, Jak found a way to spin it into something humorous. Because of Jak’s seemingly chill and unbothered attitude, not a few social media users started making memes of him and his “anti-silos (selos)” abilities. Jak hopped onto the trend and came up with a funny bit that has him dancing seductively to Mariah Carey’s “My All,” after dispensing advice to people who want to shake off their “selos.”
The meme went viral, so much so that Jak found himself holding an “anti-silos” lecture at Jose Rizal University recently. “Nakakatuwa ‘yung trend. Good vibes lang. I’m happy that people are not being toxic about it,” Jak said. INQ
