Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said he received P7 million for the movie rights to his life in exile while avoiding an arrest warrant in connection with the twin killings of a publicist and his driver in 2000.
Lacson said the film was likely to be released in November or December.
The senator added that the movie would be vague about the exact whereabouts of his life abroad. This is to protect those who helped him during his exile.
Lacson once said he would rather bring to the grave details of his life in hiding than compromise those who aided him.
Lacson’s sudden departure in early 2010 sprang from an arrest warrant for the double murder of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito. The senator returned in March 2011 after the Court of Appeals voided the warrant.
A previous movie about Lacson in 2001, “Ping Lacson: Supercop,” starred the late Rudy Fernandez.
