Alexa Miro set the record straight about her relationship status with presidential son, Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, saying the latter is not her suitor but just one of her closest friends.

Miro made the revelation during a podcast interview with entertainment journalist Nelson Canlas on Tuesday, Aug. 15, where she was asked about her supposed romance with the young legislator.

“No, no, no, no, hindi siya nanliligaw (No, he’s not courting me). Kami (Us), like what I said in all of my past interviews, he’s one of my closest friends,” she said.

“We trust each other with our problems, gan’un din siya with his other friends na girls and boys… thankful ako na naging part ako ng circle nila. With them, they’re really like family. We really have each other’s backs,” she further said.

Miro, who is now part of the revamped “Eat Bulaga,” said Marcos has a lot of “female friends.” She claimed that she might have caught the public’s attention because she’s a “fresh face” in the entertainment industry.

“Si Cong. — he hates it when we call him that — pamilya kami. He calls his friends his family. Marami talaga siyang kaibigang babae, as in marami kami sa group. But I guess because I’m the fresh face, that’s what the people latched on to. Tapos lagi kaming magkasama pero hindi natitiyempuhan ang ibang friends,” she said.

But I guess because I’m the fresh face, that’s what the people latched on to. Then, we’re always together but our other friends were not noticed by the public.)

During the interview, she opened up about the criticisms she received after being involved with the Marcos scion, but said the latter “didn’t comfort” her.

“Hindi niya ako kinomfort. Ang sinabi niya lang, ‘Bakit mo kasi pinapansin ang bashers? What you should think about is the line from ‘Game of Thrones’ where the lion doesn’t concern itself with the opinion of the sheep.’ Very strong kasi ‘yun, gan’un siya,” she said.

Miro, who admitted that she “cried in the shower” at the height of their romance rumors, noted how Marcos’ apparent tough love helped her in dealing with naysayers on social media.

“Hindi ko siya naiintindihan before (I didn’t understand it) but now I just choose to not even try to understand it because we all have our own opinions, anyway, and nothing that anyone can say will really change who you are,” she said.

Speculations about Marcos and Miro’s romance came about in June 2022 when a video taken during the inauguration of Vice President Sara Duterte captured Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla confirming with Marcos that his girlfriend is from Bacoor, Cavite.

Mercado-Revilla was apparently referring to Miro, who hails from Bacoor.

“Hello, Sandro. Ang girlfriend mo pala is taga-Bacoor. Nakwento ni Bryan [Revilla] sa akin (Your girlfriend hails from Bacoor. Bryan told me),” Mercado-Revilla said to Marcos, to which he replied with “Yes, but atin-atin lang ‘yan ha (Yes, but this stays between us, okay)?”

The rumored sweethearts were then spotted together at the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore in October of the same year. EDV
