Ice Seguerra paid tribute to his late father-in-law, former Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Martin Diño, expressing gratitude for trusting and accepting him to be Liza Diño’s husband.

Seguerra shared through his Instagram page on Tuesday, Aug. 8, a photo from his wedding with Liza and recalled how he asked Martin for permission to marry his daughter.

“Thank you so much, Papa Martin, for accepting and embracing me as one of your own. Please say hi to my dad ngayong magkasama na kayo (now that you’re together),” Seguerra began.

“I remember our conversation when I asked you if you would allow me to marry your daughter; you readily said yes and that you were happy because you knew that I would take good care of Liza and Amara,” he continued, referring to Liza’s daughter. “Thank you for trusting me.”

Seguerra then underscored how Martin can now take a rest after the long years he dedicated his life to public service and spent time fighting cancer.

“Matagal ka rin lumaban, Papa. Lumaban para sa bayan, para sa mga anak mo, at sa cancer. Pero ngayon, pwedeng-pwede ka na magpahinga,” the actor-TV host wrote. “I love you, papa!”

After confirming her father’s death to the public, Liza paid tribute as well to Martin and remembered how the latter had always been supportive of her.

“You’ve always held my hand, even from afar. Through every challenge, through every test… You always make me feel that I’m the best,” she said on her Instagram Stories. “Love you, Pa. I’ve always been proud to be your daughter.”
