Rosé’s ‘curse’: Blackpink’s Rosé reacts to Andrea Brillantes-Ricci Rivero split

When Rosé of the South Korean girl group Blackpink went live on Instagram, actress Andrea Brillantes did not pass up the chance to inform her of her breakup with basketball player Ricci Rivero, giving credence to a wild claim that the pop star’s supposed “curse” might have something to do with it.
Rosé, or Park Chaeyoung, went live on Tuesday afternoon (Manila time) to talk to her followers in celebration of Blackpink’s seventh debut anniversary, and Brillantes was among the many fans who tuned in.
In the comments, Brillantes appeared to be reporting to Rosé about her separation from Rivero.
“Rosé, alam mo ba na break na kami ng pinansin mo sa concert charot haha… pero love na love kita (Rosé, did you know that the couple you took notice of at the concert broke up already? Kidding! But I still love you so much),” Brillantes wrote, which went unnoticed at first.

Then, the “Gone” singer asked her fans what their favorite memory was throughout Blackpink’s career, to which Brillantes wrote, “My fave memory was when you noticed me in my proposal.”
The comment eventually caught Rosé’s attention, only to be informed about their split immediately, as captured by @BLACKPINKGLOBAL on X (formerly Twitter).
“When I noticed you for your proposal. Oh, was that you? I think it was somewhere in Southeast Asia, where was it? I don’t know [where it was], but I do remember [the proposal itself]. We have never done that before,” said Rosé.
“Omg, omg yes that’s me!! We broke up now,” Brillantes said in response.
Rosé then covered her gaping mouth with her hand in shock while laughing. “Oh, no! I’ll pretend I didn’t see that,” she said.

Rosé appeared to have been reminded of Brillantes and Rivero’s viral Blackpink “promposal” where the Kapamilya actress held a large placard seeking the help of Blackpink to ask him to go to the Star Magical Prom with her.
This event took place while the quartet was having a concert at the Philippine Area last March 2023.
“Just want to ask Ricci Rivero, will you go to prom with Andrea?” Rosé said at the time, while reading the actress’ sign. After the athlete accepted her invitation, the “Gone” singer chimed in with the audience’s cheers, saying, “Aww, that is so cute! Kiss, kiss!”
The uncouple eventually parted ways after allegations of cheating on Rivero’s part.
Rosé’s ‘curse’
There is a running joke among fans that Rosé has an inimitable talent for unintentionally causing breakups among celebrity couples after interacting with her, and which is now wildly referred to as “Rosé’s curse.”
These interactions may include a photo opportunity, intimate gatherings, and fangirl dreams made true, as of this writing.
