“Eat Bulaga” hosts celebrated the noontime show’s 44th anniversary on Saturday, July 29, by launching its new theme song, which they described as “akma sa bagong panahon” (suitable for the new era).
“Tahanang pinakamasaya, Eat Bulaga! Kayong lahat ang dahilan kaya kasama pa rin ang Eat Bulaga,” the hosts sang a line from the song during “Eat Bulaga’s” Saturday episode.
(The happiest home, Eat Bulaga! Because you are there, we offer service and joy. You are the reason why Eat Bulaga is still here.)
Prior to unveiling the new theme song, Paolo Contis reiterated their commitment to provide joy and service to their viewers.
(July 29—this is an important day for “Eat Bulaga.” This show started bringing joy [to the public] 44 years ago. Time may pass—with whatever circumstances and with different celebrities showing up every day—but “Eat Bulaga’s” purpose to give joy and hope will not change.)
“For the first time in 44 years, sabay-sabay nating maririnig ang bagong kanta na magbubukas ng masayang tanghalian dito sa ‘Eat Bulaga,” he added.
(For the first time in 44 years, we will hear altogether the new theme song that will welcome your afternoons here in “Eat Bulaga.” What we wanted was something fresh, that’s why we made this song better and made it suitable for the new era and this generation’s taste. But, “Eat Bulaga’s” purpose still remains.)
This came amid the ongoing legal battle of original “Eat Bulaga” mainstays Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon (TVJ) and TAPE Inc., production company behind the revamped EB.
Aside from the copyright infringement and unfair competition complaints, TVJ filed a petition for the issuance of a writ of preliminary injunction against TAPE and GMA Network. This is to stop the production company and the network from using the name, logo and other devices by the new “Eat Bulaga” while the copyright infringement and unfair competition case is pending. /ra
