The single was released via Liga Artist Group on all streaming platforms last Friday, July 21. Listeners were also treated to a bonus track, an instrumental version of the song. The release of ‘ ur myn’ comes hot on the heels of Marga’s last single, “ Usok at Kape”, released last April.
“Sometimes, you meet a person and sparks fly instantaneously. But what if they still have hang-ups from their previous relationship?” describes Marga. “‘ ur myn’ tackles the tricky situation with a healthy dose of brash optimism, knowing that the object of your desire will one day be completely yours.”
The song had already been in rotation in Marga’s live sets for some time- she even has a live performance of it on her Youtube page from 2021- but she wanted a revamped version for the single to contrast it with the live arrangement. “We’d been playing this song at gigs for a couple of years. The original arrangement was leaning towards 90s acid jazz, but I wanted a fresher sound for it. My producer, Enrique Santamaria, reworked the whole song, programming synths and drum breaks to achieve a more eclectic soundscape inspired by Nu-funk and Future-RnB artists like Micki Miller, KNOWER, & Ghost-Note.”
Last month, Marga Jayy released visualizers for her 2 songs, “ Dis‘ n Dat Pt.1” & “ Dis ‘ n Dat Pt..2”, both songs from the previously released Daydreaming EP. Additionally, her last single “ Usok at Kape” was listed on Fresh Finds PH (Spotify Editorial Playlist) and Breaking Original Pilipino Music (Apple Music Editorial Playlist).
