Amy Perez says being part of ‘It’s Showtime’ makes her feel ‘young’

Excitement was apparent on Amy Perez’s face when she revealed that being one of the hosts of “It’s Showtime” makes her feel young despite being in showbiz for quite some time.
Perez confessed during a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview on Monday, July 17, that being part of the ABS-CBN noontime show, feels like a break from her daily life.
“Masaya [ang ‘It’s Showtime’], nakakabata,” she said. “Iba ang vibe kasi. Iba ‘yung nakikita mong energy sa madlang people, masaya siya.”
“Nakakalimutan mo ang problema mo when you do a noontime show, hindi ba, nang panandalian lang naman pero after nun you have to face ‘yung mga daily things na dapat mong harapin sa buhay mo,” she continued.
(“It’s Showtime” makes me happy, it makes me feel young. The vibe is different. You see a different kind of energy with the viewers. It makes me happy.)
Despite feeling young, the host then shared that she loves being part of the noontime show because it’s a chance to embrace her true self.
“Kasi kapag kasama ko sila, I can be myself. With the madlang people, I can dance. I can also sing kahit minsan mali-mali na [lyrics] ko, [pinagkakatiwalaan] pa rin nila ako na it’s still me so okay (When I’m with them, I can be myself. With the madlang people, I can dance. I can also sing even if sometimes my lyrics are wrong, they still trust me so it’s okay),” she said.
During the interview, Perez also appreciated the burgeoning partnership between the Kapamilya network and GMA, as she cited the noontime show’s recent shift to the latter’s GTV.
“I’m very happy [about this change] because it’s healthy. Ang industriya natin sa TV is back (the TV industry is back),” she said.
“Hindi ba lahat may trabaho? Kesyo mapaharap ng camera, likod ng camera, utility, lahat may trabaho and it’s good for everybody (Because everyone has a job. Whether you’re in front of the camera, behind the camera, utility, everyone has a job and it’s good for everybody),” she added.
Prior to hosting “It’s Showtime,” Perez was also a host of the now-defunct shows “The Singing Bee,” “Umagang Kay Ganda,” and “Good Morning Club.”
She was previously a host of the barangay hall-inspired show “Face 2 Face,” until her duties were taken over by Gelli de Belen and Karla Estrada. EDV
