Joey de Leon said the support the “legit Dabarkads” have been receiving over their new show “EAT” is “lagpas helicopter,” which some netizens believe alluded to Vice Ganda’s helicopter ride from the ABS-CBN building to the GMA Network headquarters during the “It’s Showtime” launch on GTV.

De Leon said this after he and his fellow original “Eat Bulaga” mainstays launched their new show “EAT” on TV5, through his Instagram page on Sunday, July 2.

“Ganito kaliit lang ang studio namin sa TV5, parang elevator…,” he wrote in the caption while showing a photo of the hosts taken inside an elevator. “Pero 1,000 floors naman ang taas ng ibinigay niyong pagpansin sa amin…lagpas helicopter!”

It can be noted that the production number of “It’s Showtime” last July 1—the same day “EAT” was launched—included Vice Ganda riding a helicopter to GMA’s headquarters and performing in front of the said building. Some netizens then appeared to have assumed that De Leon was taking a swipe at the stunt of the “It’s Showtime” mainstay.

“Pare-parehas lang naman nasaktan, pinili, pinabayaan at binigyan ng pagkakataon. Bakit kailangan may ganitong post?” one @salbe1015 commented. “Hindi man direkta sinasabing sa ‘Showtime’ pero can you just be grateful? At least may bagong tahanan na ang pinalitan niyo.”

([Both shows] were hurt, chosen, left out and given another chance. Why do you need to post this? You may not have directly stated that it’s about “It’s Showtime,” but can you just be grateful [that] at least the [show] you [bumped off] has found a new home?)

“He is a public figure, he can influence a lot of people,” the Instagram user added. “Dahil sa post niya (Because of his post) about [helicopter], most of the comments even in other social media platforms trigger the people to also think [negatively] against other networks, which is not what people need right now.”

“‘…lagpas helicopter’—kung ‘yung phrase na yan ay hindi na sinama, wala siguro mag-isip ng kung ano,” a certain @linglentan said. “Kahit mawala ang phrase na yan buo parin naman ang gusto sabihin ni Mr Joey, ‘di po ba? Dinagdag niya para may impact, ayun, eto na nga po ang ending. Bilang public figure dapat responsible at pinag-isipan ang post.”

(“Beyond a helicopter’s reach”—if he did not include this phrase then no one might have put malice in his post. Even without this phrase, Mr. Joey’s statement would still be complete, right? He added it for impact, and here it is. As a public figure, he should be responsible and his posts should be well thought of.)
