Atasha Muhlach, daughter of celebrity couple Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales, admitted that she wanted to join showbiz for quite some time, but had to focus on her studies as a promise to herself and her parents.
“I’m actually going back to the UK in two weeks for graduation,” she said during her contract signing with Viva Artists Agency last Monday, July 3. Atasha kicked off her showbiz career earlier this week, as she signed a contract with Viva.
But the young star revealed that she always wanted to be part of the entertainment industry since she was 10 years old.
“This was something I’ve always wanted to do ever since I was 10 years old when I did the ‘Sound of Music.’ That’s when I realized I do love to perform, I love to sing and I love to make people smile,” she said.
“But I knew I had to prioritize my studies first. That was a promise I made to my parents and also to myself. Once I got that out of the way, now I’m here,” said Atasha, whose genes in the entertainment department are certainly not lacking, considering the both her parents firmly had their roots in show business.
When asked about her future plans in showbiz, Atasha said she hopes to “try everything,” although she revealed that she’s planning on releasing a “new single” soon.
“I personally would really love to try everything. I would like to sing, I would like to dance, I would like to perform, and I really would like to act. So, I wouldn’t want to close my doors to anything. But as of now, I am just taking it one step at a time,” she added.
‘You can now fully chase your dreams’
Following Atasha’s contract signing, Gonzales took to her personal Instagram page on Tuesday, July 4, to express how proud she is of her daughter for chasing her dreams.
“I remember the first time you stepped on the stage at the age of 10 years old when you played the role of Brigitta in the ‘Sound of Music.’ We knew that entertainment was something you always dreamed of and will be part of you someday. Now that you are finished with your studies. You can now fully chase your dreams,” she said.
Gonzales said she is “so happy and proud” to have a “loving and caring daughter” like Atasha, saying she and Muhlach will be supporting the young star’s showbiz journey.
“We are so happy and proud to have a loving and caring daughter like you. Your mom and dad will forever support you.. We love you and share your excitement as you take your first step into the entertainment world. We are excited to see what the future has in store for you,” she said.
“Atasha my dear.. may you continue to fly & spread your wings my love.. we love you so so so much & we will be cheering you on every step of the way. We love you with all our heart @atashamuhlach_,” she continued.
Atasha thanked her mother in the comments of her post, as she pointed out that the former beauty queen has always encouraged her to “chase [her] dreams.”
“Thank you so much @itsmecharleneg for always being there for me since day 1 and encouraging me to chase my dreams I love you soso much,” she said.
Prior to her showbiz debut, she caught the attention of netizens last May after Gonzales shared a video of the former doing a cover of Moira Dela Torre’s “Babalik sa ‘Yo” and Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly.”
Atasha was chosen as the Philippines’ representative to the Paris debutante ball last September 2022. EDV
