Maine Mendoza, Arjo Atayde send gifts to wedding ‘ninongs’ Joey de Leon, Tito Sotto: ‘All set for July’
July indeed seemed to be the month that EAT mainstay Maine Mendoza and fiance, Quezon City congressman Arjo Atayde will tie the knot as they personally hand out their special gifts for their wedding sponsors or godparents, among them former Senator Tito Sotto III and Joey de Leon.
Sotto and de Leon took to Instagram to document the occasion, giving an insight as to when the wedding will happen.
“The month of JULY will surely be one if not the most memorable this year — The Dabarkads moving to TV5, the 44th Anniversary of our beloved ‘Eat Bulaga’ and the ‘very special day’ of our inaanaks Arjo and Maine! So honored and thankful! [blue heart emojis]” de Leon captioned his post, which has his picture with the soon-to-be-wed couple.

Sotto, meanwhile, simply captioned his post with the words, “All set for July!” along with his picture with the two.

In the comments section, the couple expressed thanks to de Leon and Sotto.
Aside from Sotto and de Leon, Mendoza also confirmed in the past that Vic Sotto was also one of their wedding sponsors.
While both Mendoza and Atayde have yet to disclose more details about their nuptials, the two are believed to be planning a July 28 wedding owing to the significance of the date for them.
It was in July 28, 2013 when Mendoza tweeted “Arjo cutie” even when they have yet to meet each other personally.
Five years later, also on July 28, 2018, they would meet for the first time during the story conference for their movie “Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles,” Mendoza’s movie with Vic Sotto. In the movie, Atayde would play the role of the leader of a drug syndicate ring which Mendoza and Sotto, who both played cops in the film, would neutralize.
Since then, the two would become inseparable. On March 2, 2019, Mendoza confirmed reports that they were dating after they were seen together publicly and on several trips abroad and other activities. Several months after, on December 21, 2019, the couple celebrated their first anniversary as a couple.
Last July 28, Mendoza and Atayde got engaged. In asking for her hand in marriage, Atayde supposedly said during his proposal: “My turn. I will marry you, cutie.” EDV
