Celeste Cortesi urged pageant fans to be “kinder” with their words, stressing how it is “unfair” for beauty queens to receive bashing when they exert maximum effort to represent the country in international competitions.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2022 titleholder spoke about her sentiment through her Twitter page on Monday, May 29.
“I can’t help but notice the negative comments about queens after every pageant,” she said. “It’s sad, because all these women work hard to have the opportunity to represent our country on an international stage.”
“It’s unfair how they are being bashed,” she continued. “I hope we can be kinder with our words.”
Cortesi also noted that while she acknowledges the passion of some fans to support their bets, it is still not right to throw hate toward other candidates.
“It’s OK to criticize, but let’s make it constructive. Let’s create a more positive and kinder community that will support our queens sa laban nila,” she added. “When they win, we all win.”

Cortesi earlier dismissed rumors of conflict between her and fellow beauty queen Rabiya Mateo. Such rumors circulated in the pageant community after the two apparently unfollowed each other on Instagram. /ra
