Days after Jason Hernandez confessed that he is wooing back his estranged wife, singer Moira Dela Torre, a colleague of the ex-couple unleashed a mouthful of tirades against the “Tadhana” hitmaker based on his supposed “personal experiences” with them.
Songwriter Lolito Go claimed that Dela Torre is more of an “oppressor than a victim,” as seen in a lengthy Facebook post on Sunday, May 28, adding that it was Hernandez who was “willing to do his part to restore their marriage.”
“I have been itching to write about this a few months ago pa. Hindi ko na kasi ma-take ang pambabash ng publiko kay Jason. But Jason stopped me because he still wanted to protect Moira,” Go said. “This soft-spoken lady with a voice of an angel, who always seems to have a sunny disposition, and has a penchant for quoting the Bible, has a dark side unknown to many.”
“I refuse to be quiet. I refuse to be neutral. To be neutral in times of injustice is to take the side of the oppressor. In this case, Moira is more of an oppressor than a victim. Jason took all the blame, took all the bashing, in the name of love. That’s how he was raised. To roll with the punches,” the songwriter continued, claiming that Hernandez was the only Christian who was “faithful with the teachings of Christ” during their marriage.
The ex-couple’s colleague also claimed that while Hernandez messed up at some point during their marriage, his “only sin” was listening to the “call of flesh” because Dela Torre “couldn’t fulfill his sexual needs.”
“And even before Jason confessed to his sin, Moira already wanted out. Dahil nakahanap na rin sya ng pamalit. Someone who will ‘dance in the rain’ with her and call her ‘binibini.’ I’ll leave it to you to guess sino ang tinutukoy ko,” he added, implying that Dela Torre was supposedly unfaithful to her estranged husband as well.
Go also pointed out that Dela Torre’s latest hit “Eme” is focused on “mockingly lash out” at Hernandez, while “Ikaw Pa Rin” is a “heartfelt” way of confessing that he wanted his estranged wife back.
“Napatatunayan na ni Jason that he is willing to do his part to restore the marriage. Napatunayan na ni Jason that he can withstand the torrent of insults and hate. He never once defended himself the past year from all the lies made up about him being gay, pumatol sa may asawa, may kabit, manggagamit etc,” he continued. “Despite what I said against Moira, I cannot discount the fact na nag simula siyang mabuting tao. She’s just probably overwhelmed with success and the medications — a fatal combination.”
The songwriter also claimed that “95% of Moira’s hits” including “Paubaya,” “Ikaw at Ako,” “Pabilin,” “EDSA,” “Patawad,” “Kumpas,” “Babalik Sayo,” “Saglit” were composed by Hernandez, as he accused the female crooner of being a “manggagamit” who wanted to get “people’s sympathy.”
“I hope she can still find it in her heart to forgive. I hope mamayani sa kanya yung true nature niya na marahil ay nilamon na ng fame and fortune and everything that goes with it,” he said. “Sobrang olats talaga ng cancel culture. We hated Jason so much without knowing the backstory. I feel sorry for his family. They didn’t deserve to be dragged into this mess. I pray for their healing. At sana lang, this issue can be mended privately, instead of this never-ending trial by publicity.”
It can also be noted in Go’s statement that he seemingly accused Dela Torre of taking credit for the “songs [he] wrote” where he was not “paid a single penny,” saying “There was an instance pa nga na I was not even included in the credits sa Spotify. Kung hindi ko pa pinuna, hindi nya pa ire-rectify.”
“When Moira needs you, she will make you feel loved and cared for. Magaling [siya] mambola. She even asked me kung magkano price ko for ghostwriting for her last year noong nagkakalabuan na sila ni Jason. When I told her my price, tinawaran nya ako for 20k per month. I felt so insulted. But I just kept that to myself,” he added.
Cornerstone’s exec rebuts Go’s claims
Hours after Go’s lengthy claim, Cornerstone Entertainment vice president Jeff Vadillo defended Dela Torre in a separate statement on his personal Facebook page, saying that the singer doesn’t deserve to be “invalidated,” without mentioning the songwriter’s name. The “Paubaya” singer is currently an exclusive talent of Cornerstone.
“There is this FB Post currently circulating that’s casting shade on her integrity as an artist and songwriter. As a witness to her hard work and genuine talent, I cannot take this sitting down. This person claimed a ‘FUN FACT’ (which is really not fun at all) that 95% of Moira’s hits were composed by Jason Marvin,” he began. “Then he added the question kung sino ang manggagamit? That statement is grossly inaccurate.”
Vadillo also clarified that while “Paubaya” and “Edsa” were composed by Hernandez, the aforementioned songs were a collaborative effort between the estranged couple.
“And collaborating with one another does not make Moira any less of a powerhouse songwriter. ‘Saglit’ is composed by Moira, not to mention the entire ‘Malaya’ album which includes the mega hits ‘Malaya,’ ‘Tagu-Taguan,’ ‘Take her to the Moon, and ‘Tagpuan.’ It is also worth noting that her debut album is what jumpstarted Moira’s career and put her on the map,” he added.
The Cornerstone executive also stressed that Dela Torre doesn’t need a “ghostwriter” for her songs in the entirety of her career, saying that she is “more than capable of doing it herself.”
“Why would she pay when she is more than capable of doing it herself? Hindi pa siya sikat, sumusuka ng songs after songs si Moira. Doon sa nag sabi nun – are you implying na mas magaling kang songwriter kaysa sa kanya? Stop invalidating the work of a hardworking woman. She does not deserve this,” he added.
Neither Hernandez nor Dela Torre have responded to Go and Vadillo’s claims, as of this writing. EDV
