Sam Pinto on why she took a break from show biz in 2017: ‘I think I was tired’
Sam Pinto is making her showbiz comeback after a six-year hiatus, which she resorted to because of “burnout.”
The “Pinoy Big Brother” alum admitted that she felt “tired” and needed to take a break from the entertainment industry, during an interview in the May 23 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” where she was asked about her hiatus.
“Honestly, I think I was tired. And parang burnt-out na. So parang, I needed a break. And then sakto, sumabay din ‘yung [pag-build] ng resort in Baler and it was around pandemic noong nagpatayo kami,” she said, referring to her beachfront surfing resort, L’Sirene Boutique Resort.
Giggling, Pinto admitted that she might have enjoyed her break “too much” because it was a time in her life that she felt free.
“I think I enjoyed the break too much kasi I was just chilling. I had all the time that I needed. I can do anything, I can go anywhere, parang it is freedom, basically,” she said.

“Actually, what I really miss about show biz… I kinda miss being busy. I know it’s weird but when you’re so used to it and then biglang nag-stop, parang, I don’t know what to do with myself,” she added.
Pinto, who was cast in the drama “Abot-Kamay na Pangarap” starring Carmina Villaroel and Jillian Ward, also shared that she missed playing different characters, as she confirmed that she’s back in the entertainment industry.
“What I miss the most is the challenge of playing a character or a role. It was so weird because two or three weeks ago, I was just thinking about, ‘What if umarte ako ulit kasi namimiss ko na eh,’ ‘yung memorizing ng lines, challenge and researching the character. And then one week later, ‘Do you want to do ‘Abot-Kamay?’ I manifested it, I guess,” she said.
The actress, who started her career as a model, starred in various teleseryes including “Captain Barbell: Ang Pagbabalik,” “Indio” and “La Luna Sangre” prior to her hiatus. /ra
