Mutya ng Pilipinas Annie Uson is Miss Chinese World 2023
MANILA, Philippines — Mutya ng Pilipinas Annie Uson was crowned 2023 Miss Chinese World in ceremonies staged in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 20.
Uson represented the capital city of Manila in the annual pageant that gathers women of Chinese descent from all over the world. She succeeded last year’s winner, Kao Man Jung from Taipei, Taiwan.
The national pageant organization chose Uson to join the global tilt when the international organization granted them the franchise. Mutya ng Pilipinas President Cory Quirino said at a media gathering in March that a national licensee is allowed to send up to five delegates.
Uson was a semifinalist in the Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant’s 50th anniversary edition held in 2018. She also joined the 2020 Mister and Miss Chinatown Philippines contest, and finished third in the female category.
The Mutya ng Pilipinas organization also sent reigning Miss Chinatown Philippines Berjayneth Chee to the Miss Chinese World pageant. She represented Misamis Oriental in the global tilt.
