It seems that Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift remain on good terms up till now, as the former feels confident about the re-release of the album “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” on July 7.

Lautner, who dated Swift in 2009, briefly said he’s looking forward to the upcoming release of the re-recorded album during an interview with U.S. show “Today” last Tuesday, May 16.

“I think it’s a great album,” Lautner said, when he was asked about the record. “Yeah, I feel safe. Praying for John.”

And by “John,” Lautner was referring to singer John Mayer, who was speculated by fans to be the subject of Swift’s song “Dear John,” which is part of the “Speak Now” album.

Among the song’s notable lyrics include “Dear John, I see it all now that you’re gone / Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? / The girl in the dress cried the whole way home, I should’ve known.”

The “Twilight” star, on the other hand, was theorized to be the subject of Swift’s hit song “Back to December” which includes the lyrics, “I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile / So good to me, so right / And how you held me in your arms that September night / The first time you ever saw me cry.”

Despite the numerous fan theories, Swift has yet to directly address whom she was referring to in both hits.

The “Anti-Hero” hitmaker met Lautner on the set of the romantic-comedy film “Valentine’s Day” in 2009, and dated for a few months. Their split was confirmed in December of the same year. As of this writing, the actor is happily married to his non-showbiz wife whose name happened to be like theirs — Taylor Dome.

On the other hand, Swift briefly dated Mayer between 2009 and 2010, when the former was said to be only 19 years old at the time.

The award-winning singer-songwriter announced the release of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” during her “The Eras Tour” concert in Nashville, Tennessee last May 6. EDV
