Eight Elvis Presley tribute artists will gather in the Philippines to mark the King of Rock and Roll’s 35th death anniversary in August.
The big event will be held August 18, 8 p.m. at the Graceland Estates and Country Club in Tayabas, Quezon. It will feature: Nonie Yambao, the new Elvis Presley of the Philippines; Edgar Opida, another Filipino, dubbed Elvis of Asia by Japan Times; HT Long, Elvis of Malaysia; Douglas Masuda, Elvis of Japan; Vasu Sangsingkeo, Elvis of Thailand; Hiroshi Ishikawa, Elvis of Hong Kong; special guest Ritchie Newton from Germany; and Stephen Kabakos from Memphis, rated as the world’s No. 1 Elvis tribute artist.
The artists will backed by a world-famous Pinoy Elvis Band which has performed in Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
The project is a joint effort of the Elvis Presley Alliance of Asia headed by chairman Tommy Ooi of Hong Kong, Ronnie Soliman of Graceland Estates, Quezon, and Chito Bertol, founding chair of the Elvis Presley Friendship Club Philippines International.
Kabakos will perform Elvis classics from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.
