Ellen Adarna doesn’t see herself returning to show biz at the moment, as she wants to focus on being a good mom to her son Elias and having her own kids with husband Derek Ramsay.
Adarna, who has recently been appearing at brand launch events, stressed that motherhood is her priority for now, during a Push Bets Live interview, as seen in a video uploaded on Push’s official YouTube channel last Saturday, May 6.
“I’m not [returning to show biz] yet. I’m not saying never. But until Elias is seven, pwede na. But malabo pa at this time kasi magbubuntis pa ako, so I have to take care of it. So wala pa talagang [plans] at this time,” she said.
The actress also shared that she and Ramsay aim to have their own kids this year, saying she’s planning to have her intrauterine device (IUD), a form of birth control, removed.
“This year, we will try to get pregnant. I have my IUD [right now], but I’m going to have it taken out this June. So, hopefully [we have kids this year],” she excitedly said.
Adarna, who recently said she wants to have a harmonious relationship with ex-boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz and his rumored girlfriend Isabel Santos, said her co-parenting setup with Cruz has been “smooth” so far.
“[John Lloyd and I] have a set schedule, but other than that, everything is smooth naman,” she said. “What I learned from my dad is to be fair with John Lloyd, especially with the point of view as a mother. I want us to have a good relationship. There’s a fixed schedule, he has 12 days per month with him. ‘Yun lang ang usapan namin, simple.”
During the interview, the actress said she’s not a strict mother to Elias, saying she allows him to experience life on his own terms with their guidance.
“I let [Elias] be. I’m a very laidback mom, parang kumbaga, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” she shared, as she praised her husband for maintaining a good relationship with her son. “Derek is a very good father figure to Elias [as well].
Her being a laidback mom is reflected in Adarna’s calm response when she was asked if she sees her son joining show biz in the future.
“Show biz? If he wants to, yes. But studies first,” she said with a big smile. /ra
