Chie Filomeno clapped back at a basher who accused her of “not embracing” her Filipina beauty after the actress admitted in the past that she went under the knife to improve her looks.
Four years after having rhinoplasty, Filomeno remained firm in her stance that there is nothing wrong with having some enhancements done on her features.
Responding to a comment made by a user named @D♡, in which the user claimed that the actress was not in favor of women’s empowerment, Filomeno clarified that she had not made any statements encouraging anyone to undergo cosmetic surgery, not that there was anything wrong with it.
“Wala po tayong ine-encourage at wala po akong sinasabi na ito ang tamang gawin, ito dapat ang gawin. At tsaka, wala naman pong masama sa pagpaparetoke or sa pageenhance sa kung anong meron ka. Kung ito ang tingin mong magpapasaya sa’yo, magbibigay confidence sayo, why not do it? Wala ka namang natatapakan na tao. Wala kang nasasaktan,” she said on her TikTok post recently.

The Kapamilya star said that people who have undergone such procedures should not be thrashed or punished for their choices as some may have chosen to do them to boost their self-confidence. Besides, Filomeno further told the basher that it is not the latter who is footing the bill.
“Kung ito ang tingin mo magpapasaya sayo, magbibigay confidence sayo, why not do it? Wala ka namang natatapakan na tao, wala kang nasasaktan. Isa pa, pera mo ba ang ginagamit ko sa pagpapa-retoke ko? ‘Diba hindi? Pero kung oo, sige. Bayaran kita,” she said.
“Ang tanda tanda na po natin. Alam na po natin kung ano ang tama sa mali. Ang ginagawa mo, ayan ang mali. Parang dine-degrade mo lahat ng taong nagparetoke, parang ang sama-sama naming tao for like doing something that would make us happy nang wala kaming tinatapakan na tao,” she further said.
She said that netizens should also be more responsible in commenting about other people, including celebrities, or to put down those who opted to improve their self-image. “I’m not saying this is the right thing to do pero sana mas lawakan pa natin yung understanding natin sa topic na to.”
The actress’ response earned the support of netizens on social media, with some praising her for taking care of herself.
In 2019, the former Girl Trends member revealed that she underwent plastic surgery to surgically enhance her nose during an episode of “Tonight with Boy Abunda” in 2019. “There’s nothing wrong in enhancing something that you have. It’s a choice, it’s your own choice as long as wala kang natatapakang tao, go with it,” she said during the interview. EDV
