As hard as it is to believe, actor Sam Milby claims to be an introvert and someone who enjoys behind-the-scenes work rather than being in front of the camera.
“Yes, this may sound a bit weird, but it’s true,” he told Inquirer Entertainment in a recent interview. “Right now, it’s just a hobby, but I’m very much into video editing. I also want to learn more about color grading because it really changes the look of anything you do. It makes a huge difference. I am amazed by the work of Marilen Magsaysay. I would love to learn more about that. I feel like I’m so far behind.”
Much bigger playground Magsaysay is a senior colorist whose work includes “Keka,” “Alimuom” and “Eerie.” Incidentally, Sam edited “Malaya,” the viral music video of Moira dela Torre in 2017.
“I’m into producing, too,” said Sam, who also coproduced two of Moira’s successful concerts. “I think with all the platforms now, there are different types of projects you can do. For a while, we got stuck with stories of sampalan and kabit, but because of all the platforms, we now have a much bigger playground.”
Does he also plan to direct films and TV shows someday? “Wala akong kabalak-balak,” Sam declared. “I think directing is something that I would enjoy. It’s just that I’m the type who would read so many reviews before buying something because I want to be sure first. I feel like if you’re directing, you have to think off the top of your head,” he explained.
“Also, I’m OC (having obsessive-compulsive traits). I feel like because of this and being an overthinker, I’d always be battling with my mind. That’s not a good trait for a director to have. I think it would be a great experience, though. I just have to really make that jump and see if I could really be one.”
