Michelle Obama promotes healthy lifestyle

OBAMA. Tips on growing “good food” and eating wisely.

MICHELLE Obama has written her first book, “American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America,” in which she shares recipes, as well as stories about gardening.

The First Lady of the United States of America discloses that she grew up with little knowledge about vegetable gardening. At one point, she thought that tomatoes came in green plastic trays from supermarkets and had only one color—pale red! Now, she’s doing her best to help educate everyone about growing “good food” and eating wisely.

The White House kitchen garden has evolved from a mere decorative space to a major producer of ingredients used for events at the White House, whose kitchen garden now feeds homeless people.

Obama points out that the US spends $150 billion a year to deal with its citizens’ obesity-related health problems. Because of this, she has launched a campaign against childhood obesity—which, she says, is “eminently solvable.”

Steps she undertook to improve her family’s eating habits: She emptied the pantry of unhealthy food; served more water or skim milk, instead of sugary drinks; added more vegetables to their meals, and encouraged the family to eat at home.

Many children suffer from rotten teeth, diabetes, and obesity because their parents don’t provide a healthy diet for them! Obama’s book helps show the way to a healthier lifestyle.
