MANILA, Philippines — The country’s capital city is set to showcase the best of Philippine fashion through “Rampa Manila” fashion show on June 20, 2023, as Manila celebrates its founding anniversary. The event will be held at the historic Manila City Hall.
Rampa Manila will feature the collections of renowned fashion designers Albert Andrada, Michael Leyva, Marlon Tuazon, and Jo Rubio. Each designer will present their unique vision of Filipino fashion, highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary fashion trends. This will also be a venue for fashion design students to showcase their work alongside the established names of Philippine design.
The event is an initiative under the leadership of Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and the City Tourism Office. The goal is to promote Manila’s fashion industry and cultural heritage, as well as to provide a platform for local designers to display their talent and creativity.
The city signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Punto Consultancy for the launching of the first ever city government-initiated fashion show. Present during the MOA signing were some of the participating designers such as Andrada, Tuazon, and Puey Quinones. Also in attendance was Bang Pineda, who will be Rampa Manila’s creative director.
“We are thrilled to bring Rampa Manila to the City of Manila. This fashion show is a testament to our commitment to promote our city’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant fashion industry. We are proud to showcase the talents of our local designers and to provide them with an opportunity to present their collections to a wider audience,” Lacuna-Pangan said.
Rampa Manila is expected to draw fashion enthusiasts, industry leaders, and media personalities from all over the country. The event will feature a diverse lineup of models and performers, as well as a showcase of local accessories and crafts.
“We are excited to see the creative vision of our designers come to life on the runway. Rampa Manila is not just a fashion show, but a celebration of our city’s vibrant culture and heritage. We invite everyone to come and experience the beauty and artistry of Philippine fashion,” said City Tourism head Charlie Dungo.
