Miles Ocampo reveals papillary thyroid carcinoma diagnosis
Miles Ocampo disclosed that she underwent surgery because she had been diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma, a type of cancer that affects the thyroid.
The actress, who first made public her thyroid problem on Thursday, shared further details about her condition through her Instagram page on Friday, April 14.
She gave an account of her medical ordeal from when she first experienced symptoms late last year to when she consulted a doctor and was told to undergo thyroidectomy surgery to remove her thyroid glands.
“I used to be scared of hospitals but since late last year, I haven’t felt my normal self. Waking up in the middle of the night cause I can’t breathe, I get tired so easily, [so] frustrated with my weight gain, para akong palaging hapong-hapo and sinasakal,” she recalled.
“Then finally, I had the courage to have it checked…,” she continued. “We found out it was Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. I had to undergo Thyroidectomy surgery to remove my thyroid glands. It all happened in an instant.”

She then thanked those who have been part of her journey including her family, doctors, talent agency and “Eat Bulaga” family for constantly checking up on her. Ocampo also mentioned her “strongest support,” actor Elijah Canlas, who encouraged her to face her fears with doctors and hospital, and to prioritize and love herself.
“A month after my operation, here I am embracing my journey and sharing it to all of you,” she stated. “I’ve been receiving messages from you guys who has the same situation with me that you’re inspired with what I went through, but sharing your experiences too and reading your comments inspired me too.”
“You are not alone. Sending my love to everyone,” she added. “Love and prioritize yourself.”
Ocampo concluded her post by reminding the public: “With or without any health conditions, no to body shaming. Be kind. always. Please.” /ra
