Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. was not able to hold back his tears when his daughter Inah informed him that she passed the 2022 Bar examinations.
“Meron na akong (I now have a) lawyer! I am so proud of you Atty. Inah, my anak!” Bong said through an Instagram post. “Congratulations on achieving one of your dreams.”
“Hindi ko mapigilan maluha sa tuwa, at hindi ko mailagay sa salita ang pagiging proud ko bilang isang ama,” he continued. “Alam ko that you did this partly because of me and for me. Lalo pa at alam ko ang pinagdaanan mo na pinagsabay ang pagiging ina at ang pag-aaral ng abogasya.”
(I can’t help but shed tears of joy, and I can’t even put into words how proud I am as a father. I know that you did this partly because of me and for me. I also know what you had been through as you juggled being a mom and studying law at the same time.)
Bong commended his daughter whose “hard work has paid off,” and assured her of his support as her “no. 1 cheerleader.”
“Now that you have reached your dream of becoming a lawyer, always remember why God has blessed you with this—to help and bless others,” he concluded. “I love you Inah!”
In a separate post, Bong gave a glimpse of the phone call he had with Inah after the Bar exam results were announced. The senator was seen wiping his tears after Inah said she dedicates her achievement to her father.
Bong’s wife, Lani Mercado, also congratulated their daughter by showing a photo from the latter’s graduation ceremony.
“It’s official, we have a lawyer in the family! We are very proud of you!” she captioned her post. “Best birthday gift ever! God is good!”
Inah, the eldest daughter of Bong and Mercado, was among the 3,992 examinees who passed the Bar exams. /ra
