“The Clash” Season 2 winner Jeremiah Tiangco was all set to hold his first major concert last February. The venue and guest list were already finalized, online announcements were made, and promotional television interviews were aired.

But due to unexpected circumstances, the concert had to be postponed. And for a while, the GMA 7 singer thought that it was no longer pushing through.

“There were already articles and interviews that came out about the concert, so the postponement was disappointing … The day I was told about it, I couldn’t really process anything. We had been preparing for months, but then we had to find another date,” he said at a recent virtual conference. “There was a point when I thought, ‘Huwag na kaya nating ituloy.’”

Luckily, the stars aligned for Jeremiah and the production team. They were able to reschedule the concert and even managed to get additional guest artists. Titled “Dare To Be Different,” the concert is set on April 15 at the Music Museum. For tickets, visit www.ticketworld.com.ph.

“I’m the type of person who tries to make something positive out of something negative. I was disappointed, but I didn’t dwell on it. What happened motivated me even more to push through with the show. I didn’t want to fail my followers, my team and network,” he said.

All in “God’s perfect timing,” Jeremiah said. “I’m grateful because, finally, all our hard work is starting to bear fruit,” said the singer, who’s a regular performer on the musical variety show “All-Out Sundays” (AOS). “I was already happy and content about the work I have been doing. This concert is a blessing.”

Night of great music

Among his special guests are Ken Chan, This Band, Magnus Haven, Rob Deniel, fellow “The Clash” alums and mentor-judge Christian Bautista. “He couldn’t commit to the original date because he was scheduled to visit Thailand. But this time, he said, ‘Count me in,’” related Jeremiah, who has interpreted theme songs for various GMA 7 soap operas, like “Lolong.”

The concert, which will feature a 20-song setlist, will focus on soul and R&B music—genres Jeremiah excels at. Aside from his original songs like “Titulo” and “Sa Tuwing Umuulan,” he also plans to perform and pay homage to his musical influences, like Bruno Mars.

“I just want to give concertgoers a night of great music. There are a lot of artists in AOS and we have to divide air time. But here, I get to focus on myself and show more of what I can do. We’re playing with different arrangements. We want to give well-loved songs different twists,” he said.
