Actor-filmmaker Joel Lamangan, who had a successful triple heart bypass surgery in December, said he is determined to “get rid of stressors” in his life.
“My doctor told me to do this if I don’t want my life to end sooner. I intend to follow his advice, especially because I still have a lot of stories to tell in this lifetime,” he told Inquirer Entertainment recently.
The 70-year-old filmmaker said he would show up during checkups with his cardiologist, attend his cardiac rehab program and exercise regularly.
“I also read books, watch Netflix and sing! These days, I eat very little rice and carbs. I’m also on a no-salt, no-sugar diet. I feel great improvement in relation to my heart, although I still feel I will get a lot better in the coming months,” he said. INQ
