The statement further said that De Leon embodies the “intensified” and higher standards that the pioneering summer filmfest would like to impart to Filipino viewers and moviegoers.

De Leon is best known for her work at the Palm d’Or-winning “Triangle of Sadness” by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Oslund, which had been nominated in prestigious international award-giving bodies, including the 2023 Academy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and the British film awards. For this film, de Leon was nominated for best supporting actress at the Golden Globes, the first Filipina to have achieved such distinction.

Aside from this, De Leon was also in a number of local film and television series, including ABS-CBN’s “Dirty Linen” where she played the slain mother of lead actress Janine Gutierrez.

The Gabi ng Parangal will be held at the New Frontier Theater on Tuesday, April 11 with an 8:00 p.m. telecast on OnePH and a delayed telecast on TV5 at 10:45 pm. EDV
