MANILA, Philippines—Comedian Jimmy Santos, drama actor Dominic Ochoa and veteran actress Gloria Romero pay homage to Comedy King Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon at the Heritage Memorial Park Thursday.
Santos said he would never forget Dolphy’s contribution to the entertainment industry, saying he thanked him for his teachings that helped him in his career.
“Sa totoo ay gusto kong magpasalamat dahil naging bahagi siya ng ginagawalan nating hanapbuhay. Sa dami ng nakasama ko syempre proud ako at sa pagtakbo ng career natin eh nakilala at nakasama ko siya,” Santos said.
Santos added Dolphy treated all kinds of people with respect in and out of tapings, and that Dolphy taught him to be determined and prepared for challenges in the industry.
Ochoa noted how a humble person Dolphy was , and that he instilled in his co-actors the values of dignity and respect.
“Nakakalungkot mang isipin but if you’re gonna think about it natapos na niya yung mission niya dito sa mundo and I think marami na tayong natutunan with that and sana i-apply natin yung natutunan natin,” Ochoa said.
Ochoa shared that his first movie, “Home Along Da Riles,” was shot with Dolphy.
He said Dolphy truly had a great sense of humor, and that he taught him to always smile and be humble.
He reiterated his message for Dolphy during a TV commercial they shot in 2003.
“Our director posted our commercial noong 2003. Ang sagot ko lang doon magaling maasahan at mapagkumbaba. And there’s one more, we love you Tito Dolphy,” he said.
