The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is on a quest to promote the local film industry into the global stage as they opened applications for producers and audiovisual companies to be part of the Philippine delegation for Cannes’ Marché du Film 2023 this coming May.

The FDCP announced that they would be selecting Filipino producers who will be included in the Producers Network which will happen from May 17 to 22 in Cannes, France.

The Cannes Marché du Film is dubbed as “one of the largest film markets” in the industry, which happens annually in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival, according to a release.

The application is open to Filipino producers who produced at least one feature-length film which was released in a theater or streaming platforms, and those with plans to create film projects that will be co-produced with international firms. They must also be registered with the FDCP’s National Registry.

However, associate producers, production managers, executive producers, line producers, and production assistants, are not allowed to apply.

Applicants must submit their application forms, film producer credits, intention letter, company profile, filmography, profile photo, dossier of project in current development, and copy of passport which would be valid for at least six months, starting from May 2022.

The deadline for applications will be on March 31, and those who will be selected will receive an accreditation sponsored by the film agency and a reimbursable budget worth P50,000.

Local audiovisual companies in Cannes

The government agency also opened its applications for local audiovisual companies to be part of the Cannes International Film Festival, which is slated for May 16 to 24.

Applications are open for companies involved in film production-related activities including animation, post-production, and line production, where chosen delegates would be granted access to the France-based festival’s exclusive screenings, speed meetings, and a one-year free subscription to an online film database.

However, representatives must be willing to travel to France, must be fully-vaccinated or receive their booster shots with Moderna, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Janssen, and be willing to comply with the country’s COVID-19 travel restrictions. Per FDCP, applications are open until April 15.

Details about the announcement of chosen applicants are yet to be revealed by the film agency, as of this writing. EDV
