MANILA, Philippines—Prime Event Productions Philippines (PEPPS) Foundation has been mounting the national competition Misters of Filipinas and the global tilt Man of the World for years now. This 2023, it will introduce another contest for men who are in their “prime.”
PEPPS President Carlo Morris Galang announced the launching of the “Misters of Filipinas Prime” at his foundation’s “2023 Kickstart” program held at the Winford Manila Resort and Casino in Manila on Feb. 28. “I noticed that there are so many pageants for ‘Mrs.’ now, but there aren’t any for men. This will be its counterpart for males,” he said.
The Misters of Filipinas Prime pageant will be the first-ever competition of its kind in the country, pitting single men against married gentlemen and fathers. The competition will be open for aspirants between the ages of 28 and 48, way above the age bracket of typical contests at 18 to about 30.
“The search will look for misters honed by experience, and perfectly refined by time,” the foundation said. The pageant’s main thrust will be men’s health, with the winner representing the Philippines in the Mister Universe Prime competition.
But PEPPS will not forego the staging of its original competition with the launching of the new contest. In fact, it is already planning a big celebration for the 10th edition of the Misters of Filipinas pageant later this year, to mark its decade-long history in the Philippine pageant scene.
Since its inception in 2013, the Misters of Filipinas pageant has produced several of the Philippines’ first winners in numerous global competitions—2014 Mister International Neil Perez, 2016 Man of the Year Karan Singhdole, 2018 Mister Tourism Universe Ion Perez, 2018 Mister Model Universe Carlo Pasion, 2019 Mister Tourism and Culture Universe Yves Campos, reigning Runway Model Universe Junichi Yabushita and reigning Man Hot Star International Jovy Bequillo.
PEPPS will also hold the fifth edition of its Man of the World pageant in the middle of the year, with up to 40 international delegates expected to arrive in the Philippines.
And the pageantry will continue beyond these competitions. The foundation will hold the third Philippine Pageant Ball, which aims to gather male and female titleholders from different organizations, as well as the luminaries and industry players that keep the pageant scene alive. The ball was first held in 2017 and was revived last year. /ra
