Bea Alonzo revealed that she came close to breaking up with her boyfriend, actor Dominic Roque, but the latter reminded her that their relationship is worth fighting for.
Alonzo made the revelation in a vlog with Small Laude, as seen on the socialite’s YouTube channel on Saturday, March 4, where she shared that Roque is a partner who reminds her that love is worth fighting for even if she’s struggling with trust issues.
“Simula noong naging kami, hindi pa kami nag-break. Pero muntik kami mag-break, hindi lang natuloy. Actually, bilib din ako sa kanya because he always wants to make it really work. There are times kasi na feel ko, ‘I’m good at goodbyes. Alam ko na ‘to eh, eto na naman ako.’ But then, he makes me realize that it shouldn’t end that way and it shouldn’t end at all. There are parts of the relationship that can be worked out and these are the things that can make you better as a couple,” she said.
(When we started dating, we haven’t broken up. But we almost broke up, it just did not continue. I admire him because he always wants to make it really work. There are times where I feel that, “I’m good at goodbyes. I know this is going to happen, here I am again.” But then, he makes me realize that it shouldn’t end that way and it shouldn’t end at all. During the interview, the actress admitted that she still deals with trust issues in relationships, noting that she dated Roque “for more than a year” without a label in the past.
“If I’m going to be totally honest with you, kay Dom, we dated for more than a year. Walang label because I was too afraid to fall in love again, and to commit to somebody na posible ring saktan ako. Yes, may trust issues ako but I’m working on it. Everyday, Dom proves me wrong. Love is worth fighting for,” she stated.

I was also scared to commit to somebody who might possibly hurt me. Yes, I have trust issues ako but I’m working on it. Everyday, Dom proves me wrong. Love is worth fighting for.)
On cheating
Laude also asked Alonzo if she had ever been cheated on, to which the actress revealed, “Lot of times — but only by one person.” The latter, however, did not disclose the identity of this particular ex-boyfriend.
The “Start-Up PH” star also called out people who have been unfaithful to their partners, saying that they “cannot play with anybody’s heart.”
“You cannot play with anybody’s heart. You really have to stop. Kasi minsan, [iisipin] mo na, ‘You can just wing it, na she can just move on.’ But what you don’t realize is that you can leave a scar to that person. Minsan, hindi mo alam what it does to that person. Minsan, ‘yung napag-cheatan mo, hindi mo alam na nag-iiwan ‘yun ng bakas na hindi na niya makikilala ‘yung sarili niya in the end,” she added.

She can just move on.” But what you don’t realize is that you can leave a scar to that person. Sometimes, you don’t know what it does to that person. Sometimes, the person you have cheated on, would have a huge scar in their hearts, almost to the point where they struggle to accept themselves in the end.)
The Kapuso star noted that cheating is a “very serious” matter, and hoped that those who have been cheated on would “get better” in the right time.
“[Cheating] is something that is very serious and you really have to take it seriously. If you’re not happy with that person, you can always find a way to end it properly and respectfully,” she said. “[To those who have been cheated on,] it will get better. You just have to take it one day at a time. It may seem like right now, it’s the end of the world. You’re in so much pain. But right now, it will get better.”
Alonzo confirmed her relationship with the actor during an exclusive interview with “24 Oras” in August 2021, and the couple celebrated their first anniversary in February 2022.
Roque revealed that the Kapuso star is “the one” for him in October 2022, although he clarified that they have yet to set their plans on marriage. EDV
