MANILA, Philippines—A new international pageant for married women and solo parents is being organized in the Philippines, and it hopes to promote women empowerment as well as provide a venue for aspirants to engage in charity works that will benefit Filipinos in need.

The Queen of Hearts International Beauty Pageant will be held in the Philippines on June 5, and up to 50 delegates are expected to arrive in the country by May 30. The week-long schedule will also include outreach activities, aside from the preliminary competitions, organizer Mitzy Go-Gil said in an earlier event.

Gil founded and currently chairs the Queen of Hearts Foundation Inc., which has been conducting charity missions in different parts of the country. She has already mounted national competitions that sent the Philippines’ delegates to various international competitions for both “Mrs.” and “Miss.” Her titleholders have also actively participated in the foundation’s outreach projects by contributing their time and resources.

In a social media post on March 3, Gil addressed the candidates and national directors of her new international pageant saying, “I’m excited to see you all soon.” She told the Inquirer in an online interview that there are 21 confirmed delegates so far. She is still in talks with more overseas partners to help her reach her target of 50 participants.

A country may choose to send up to five delegates to the Queen of Hearts International Beauty Pageant because there are also five international titles at stake in the competition—Mrs. Queen of Hearts Universe, Mrs. Queen of Hearts World, Mrs. Queen of Hearts International, Mrs. Queen of Hearts Earth and Mrs. Queen of Hearts Global Tourism.

Aside from the five international titles, three more special titles will be up for grabs—Mrs. Queen of Hearts Asia Pacific, Mrs. Queen of Hearts Western Pacific, and Mrs. Queen of Hearts Southeast Asia.

Gil also told the Inquirer that additional details regarding her new international competition will be released soon, including how the Philippines’ delegates will be chosen. She said five Filipino women will carry the country’s colors in the global tilt.

The 2023 Queen of Hearts International Pageant is organized by Golden Hearts Entertainment Production, and proceeds will be used for the Queen of Hearts Foundation’s charity programs in the country.  /ra
