MANILA, Philippines—Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Wednesday extended his condolences to the family of the late Comedy King Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon, who passed away Tuesday evening.
“Nakikiramay po ang buong pamilya Revilla sa kanyang mga iniwan. Patuloy siyang magiging inspirasyon sa mga taga-industriya at sa mga Pilipino. Rest in peace, Tito Dolphy,” the actor-turned senator said in a statement.
Revilla said he was surprised and saddened by the passing of Quizon and said that the veteran comedian-actor is a great loss to the Philippine entertainment industry.
“Malaking kawalan siya sa industriya, ngunit sa pagbabalik tanaw, hindi matatawaran ang kanyang mga pamana sa larangan ng sining at sa ating kultura. Bilang isang ring taga-industriya, masuwerte kung sino man ang makakaabot sa kanyang narating. With more than 200 movies and decades-long TV shows, we can only aspire for what he has accomplished,” Revilla said.
Revilla’s father, veteran actor and former Senator Ramon Sr., is a contemporary of Quizon, having started in the movies and television in the 1950s.
Quizon passed away at 8:34 p.m. Tuesday following a cardiac arrest. He had been staying at the Makati Medical Center since June 9. Katherine Evangelista
