MANILA, Philippines—Actress Maricel Soriano did not show up on Wednesday’s hearing of the verbal and physical abuse complaints filed by her maids at Barangay (village) Poblacion, Makati City.

The complainants May Cachuela, 22, and Camille Acojedo, 18, were present during the hearing but any representative from Soriano’s camp failed to attend.
At 5p.m., village officials declared the veteran actress as a “no show.”
Carlo Collantes, the village’s Bantay Bayan officer, said Soriano, who is a resident of Rizal Tower in Rockwell, would be given a second and third summon although they have yet to determine the dates.
Meanwhile, in an interview with reporters at the Inquirer Group’s Media Resources Plaza in Makati City, Cachuela and Acojedo called on Soriano to appear in the next hearing so that they could talk.
The two said they were not after Soriano’s money but “open po kaming makipag-usap at makipag-ayos [we’re open to a dialogue and settlement].”
