‘Love Week’ at LRT-1 to kick off with art display, passenger surprises

February is often celebrated as a month of love, with Valentine’s Day bringing an opportunity for people to make the day extra special for their loved ones each year.

With this, LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) will observe the season of lovethrough week-long activities at LRT-1 stations to bring fun to the hearts of passengers and create an atmosphere of love. This year’s theme celebrates all-inclusive love, highlighting all types of love may it be for family, friends, communities, pets, and of course, love for self.

The week-long activities will kick off on 13 February 2023 with the unveiling of heART installation adorned with red and pink flowers where couples, friends, families, and even solo passenger can take their photos and post on their social media accounts. The installation will feature a Straight from the Heart corner where passengers can confess their admiration to their special someone or simply express their feelings by writing a message on the dedicated wall.

There will also be an art display titled ‘LOVE through the eyes of children’ featuring artworks made by Grades 1 to 6 students of Marcela Marcelo Elementary School (MMES) in Malibay, Pasay City. LRMC has been supporting MMES since 2020 as part of its strong advocacy for education by helping non and struggling readers through Binhi English Literacy Foundation, a non-profit and non-governmental organization.

The heART installation, artworks display, and passenger engagement activity will be at the LRT-1 Central Station until 28 February 2023. National Arts Month also happens to be celebrated annually throughout February in the Philippines as a special time for Filipinos to appreciate art, reflect on its significance, and pay tribute to artists.

On Valentine’s Day, passengers don’t need to look any further to buy gifts for their special someone as there will be a Gifts of Love Bazaar at LRT-1 Central Station (ground floor parking area) where LRMC employees will sell gift and food items that passengers can buy ataffordable prices. Moreover, fun surprises await lucky LRT-1 passengers on February 13 and 14.

The PopBox smart locker system is also set to go live atLRT-1 during the same week. Powered by Airspeed, PopBox smart lockers will be located in 19 LRT-1 stations, and offer contactless delivery service for the benefit of commuters who wish to use LRT-1 stations as their pick-up point for packages.
