Content creator Xian Gaza on Sunday weighed in on Paolo Contis’ recent admission that he has not been giving financial support to his three children, saying that giving aid to his children is his moral responsibility as a father.
In an open letter posted on Facebook on Sunday, Gaza said that regardless of Contis’ reasons, the later still needs to fulfill his obligation to provide for the needs of his daughters, Xonia, Xalene, and Summer.
Xonia and Xalene are Contis’ children with ex-wife Lyn Paz, while Summer is his daughter with former actress LJ Reyes. He is now being linked to Yen Santos, his “A Faraway Land” costar.
“I understand kung bakit hindi ka nagbibigay ng sustento because you have your personal reasons. Maaaring lulong sa sugal si babae or sinusunog lamang niya ang pera sa mga luho o baka naman may lalaki siya na pinagkakagastusan… Hindi napupunta sa kapakanan ng mga anak mo yung pera. Those are the possibilities. Nauunawaan kita. That’s why pinili mo na lang mag-ipon ng separate savings account para sa mga bata dahil wala kang tiwala sa dalawang babae. I understand that,” Gaza added.
Contis earlier disclosed in an interview with Boy Abunda that he decided not to give financial support to children, opting instead to set aside a savings for them, citing his “reasons”.
Gaza clarified that his open letter to the actor doesn’t stem from hate, but instead from a man who is also co-parenting his children from previous relationships.
But while he understood where Contis is coming from, and regardless of these reasons, Gaza said the actor should still be reminded that being a mother is not an easy thing to do.
The internet personality then began to share his own life story, as he announced that he has a daughter from an unnamed ex partner.
“Way back November 2021, nag-away kami nung nanay ng babae kong anak. Social media drama. Siniraan niya ko sa publiko without a proper basis. postpartum depression,” he said. “Her mental health is not okay that time. We didn’t communicate for 8 consecutive months hanggang sa nag-reach out na lang siya sa akin at humingi ng tawad.”
Even if Gaza and his ex were not in contact from “December 2021 to July 2022,” he continued to give financial support to his child every first week of the month with the help of a lawyer.
“Ano yung point na gusto kong tumbukin? Paolo, no matter what issues you have with their moms, kesyo hindi napupunta sa tama yung sustentong ipinapadala mo, obligasyon mo pa ring magpadala ng fixed amount every month para sa araw-araw na gastusin ng mga bata,” he stated.
Gaza also reminded that whether the mother chooses to spend the money on their child or not, the choice lies on hers alone.
“Labas ka na dun. Diskarte na nila yun. Iniwanan natin sila ng mga anak na papalakihin ng ilang taon at araw-araw aalagaan habang tayo ay nagbubuhay-binata eh that’s the least that we can do for them,” he said.
He said that mothers go through the worst for their children, and they deserve all the help they can get.
“Sobrang hirap maging ina jusko! Regular sustento na lang sana,” he added. EDV
