Panlasang Pinoy vlogger airs frustration after family’s belongings stolen in flight to PH

Vanjo Merano, the vlogger behind Panlasang Pinoy YouTube channel, lamented his family’s trip to the Philippines last December when their personal belongings were stolen from their luggage during their flight to Manila from the United States.
The US-based vlogger narrated their bad experience in a video entitled “Bad trip sa Pilipinas!” released on his YouTube channel last Sunday, Jan. 22. From Chicago, Merano and his family flew to San Francisco, where they took a connecting flight to Manila, via the Philippine Airlines (PAL).
When they were about to board the plane for their 15-hour flight to Manila, Merano was informed by a ground crew of several problems with their business class seat, including a broken television remote control, headphone jack and a tray table.
While Merano said he understood why there were “inconveniences,” he addressed the airline management and expressed hopes that they would improve their services.
When they arrived in Manila, Merano said that he and his family had to wait in the baggage carousel for over an hour to get their luggage, but they did not mind at the time as they were excited to meet their families in the Philippines.
Merano and his family were then shocked when they checked their luggage at home and found that some of their belongings were stolen. According to them, the items taken include branded bags, sunglasses, perfumes and even chocolates.
Merano stressed that they are not blaming anyone in specific as they do not have any proof, and that they are just sharing their experience to serve as a lesson to their viewers.
“Hindi kami pwedeng magbintang basta-basta kasi tatlong airport ‘yung pinuntahan namin, hindi ko alam kung saan nawala ‘yon. Hindi ko alam kung paano natin babasahin ‘yung scenario na ‘yon,” he said.
(We cannot just blame anyone for this because we went to three different airports [and] I do not know where our belongings got lost. I do not know how we will interpret that scenario.)
“Hindi lang talaga namin matanggap ‘yung mga nagnanakaw pa rin sa mga bagahe kasi I’m sure hindi lang naman sa amin nangyari ‘yon,” he added. (We just can’t accept that [until now] there are people who steal from luggages [and] I’m sure that we are not the only ones who experienced this.)
Despite this, Merano noted that his family still enjoyed their trip to the Philippines and that they are choosing to focus on the good things that happened during their stay. /ra
