Carlo Aquino starts shooting for international film in Japan
Carlo Aquino is currently in Japan and has begun filming his international film where he will star alongside Japanese actors Takehiro Hira and Sho Ikushima.
Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi gave a glimpse of Aquino and his co-stars in what appears to be a film set, through a video compilation on Dyogi’s Instagram page on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
“As Star Magic ventures into international collaboration for our artists, Carlo starts filming his latest project in Tokyo co-starring with Japanese Hollywood actor Takehiro Hira (‘Snake Eyes’) and Sho Ikushima,” he said. “Also playing an important role is another Star Magic artist and half Japanese Kei Kurosawa.”
Other than the film’s director, Donie Ordiales, no further details have been given on the project as of this writing.
“Exciting to watch Carlo perform alongside veteran international artists. Hira-San has the intensity, maturity and aura of a seasoned thespian,” Dyogi added. “Iba energy nila together (The energy they make together is unique). What a privilege to witness this cinematic magic unfold.”

In a separate post on Thursday, Jan. 19, Dyogi praised Aquino for his work ethic and for getting along with his fellow actors and production staff.
“[Ang] layo na ng growth and maturity ni Carlo (Carlo’s growth and maturity have gone far) from his ‘G-mik’ days with me but even at that time he has shown so much potential to be a very good actor,” Dyogi stated. “He is a very intuitive artist.”

Aquino, for his part, treated fans to moments from his second day of shooting through his Instagram Stories.
The said film, which marked Aquino’s first international lead role, was announced in September last year.
This is not the first time Aquino had an opportunity to appear in an international project. In 2021, he revealed that he was supposed to star in the hit Korean series “Squid Game,” but was not able to film for the role due to COVID-19 travel restrictions at the time. /ra
