Olivia Rodrigo hints new music on two-year anniversary of ‘driver’s license’

Olivia Rodrigo has hinted on her return to the music scene as she revealed that she’s working on “new songs” in celebration of the second anniversary of her hit song “drivers license.”

The Filipino-American singer-songwriter thanked her fans for the success of her breakthrough single on an Instagram Story last Sunday, Jan. 8. Rodrigo was spotted with music producer Dan Nigro headbanging to a song at an undisclosed recording studio. 

“[W]orking on so many new songs I’m excited to show u! Thank u for everything,” Rodrigo wrote on her photo.

“Drivers license,” released on Jan. 8, 2021, was Rodrigo’s debut single after signing with U.S-based music labels Interscope Records and Geffren Records in 2020. It went on to be a smash hit, as it garnered over 1.6 billion streams on music platform Spotify. 

The song was also certified five-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), according to a report from Florida-based publication WRMF in April 2022. 

Rodrigo is also best known for her solo debut album “Sour” which includes the songs “Deja Vu” and “Good 4 U.” The singer first gained recognition after starring as Nini Salazar-Roberts in the Disney+ series “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.” EDV
