Inspiring tales on TV

VALDEZ. Spreading herself too thin?

LORENZO Albano, student: “GMA News Channel’s recent ‘I-Witness’ episode, ‘Pasan-Pasan,’ hosted by Sandra Aguinaldo, was inspiring and moving. It featured crippled children whose disability hasn’t been a hindrance to their desire to study.

“Similarly affecting is ABS-CBN’s infomercial that shows a guy carrying his crippled brother and vowing to continue doing it as long as his brother needs him. Both have apparently finished college.”

Lisa Melicor, accountant: “There’s no doubt that Eula Valdez is a competent actress who can essay kontrabida roles with her eyes closed. In fact, she will be seen again as the latest addition to ‘Walang Hanggan.’

Roles

“But, I think she’s spreading herself too thin doing the same roles again and again—nakakasawa na.  Couldn’t ‘Walang Hanggan’ find another actress who’s just as good, but isn’t overexposed?”

Tom Medina, OFW: “Elizabeth Ramsey is one funny lady who never fails to make me laugh—like when she was featured by Boy Abunda on ‘Bandila.’ She was a riot when she sang ‘Razzle Dazzle’ in her inimitably funny way.”

Pat Cataylo, student:  “‘X-Factor Philippines’ had me rooting for a stand-up comedian named Osang, who brought the house down with his exceptional singing voice. Initially, he seemed like he was just another gay impersonator—but, when he started singing, he surprised everyone with his big rocker voice. As expected, he got the judges’ nods—one of the few times that I agreed with their decision. They’re often too easy on contestants who are less than outstanding.”
