Jodi Sta. Maria earned praises and melted hearts of netizens after she adopted a kitten that she saw at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The actress showed herself cuddling her new pet cat while recounting how she found the animal, via her Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 6.
“As I was walking down the ramp ng Arrival ng NAIA Terminal 1, I heard a kitten meowing its heart out as if asking for help and food. Tapos nakita ko siya na nababangga ng cart ng mga pasahero. Lost in space siya sa chaos ng airport,” she narrated. “I asked for a plastic bag, nilagay ko siya sa loob tapos nilabas ko yung head nya then isinakay sa van.”
(As I was walking down the ramp of the Arrivals [section] in NAIA terminal 1, I heard a kitten meowing its heart out as if asking for help and food. Then I saw that him was getting hit by the passengers’ carts. He was lost in space with the chaos of the airport. I asked for a plastic bag, put him in there with his head out, then boarded the van with him.)
Sta. Maria named the kitten Naia (pronounced Na-ya), after the airport she had found him, and admitted she initially thought that the cat was a girl. She also took Naia to a veterinarian who cleaned and dewormed him, trimmed his nails, and even gave him medicine for mites and fleas.
Naia now has follow-up appointment to the vet and was given vitamins and other medicines.
“That’s all for now. Welcome to the family, Naia!” Sta. Maria greeted her new fur baby.
Sta. Maria first told fans about her new pet cat in her Twitter post last Thursday, Jan. 5, when she revealed she found the kitten while it was raining at NAIA.
“Poor kitty now has a home. Found this kitten at the airport… It was raining too so she must have been cold,” she told fans at the time.
Based on her recent Twitter posts, Sta. Maria found out that Naia is a male domestic shorthair.
