Big Hit Music, the music label of K-pop supergroup BTS, requested fans to refrain from sending letters and gifts to Jin during his military enlistment.

Jin’s music label made the request through an official statement via fan community platform Weverse on Thursday, Jan. 5. The BTS member has been fulfilling his mandatory military service since December 2022.

“We ask that you please refrain from sending anything by mail. [Big Hit Music] will assist in making sure that Jin is able to check himself all the warm messages that fans leave on Weverse using the hashtag #Dear_Jin_from_ARMY,” the label’s statement read, according to a translation from Soompi.

Instead of sending letters and gifts, Big Hit suggested that fans send messages to Jin through Weverse since they might get lost at the K-pop idol’s assigned military training camp.

“Jin is stationed at a training center designated specifically for military training together with regular military personnel. If a large number of letters and gifts from the fans arrive at the center all at once, it would be difficult to store them, and they could be easily lost,” Big Hit said.

Jin’s label also stressed that fans are prohibited from visiting his recruit training graduation ceremony, as well as sending gifts once he gets assigned to a different military base.

“Instead, we ask you to keep your heartwarming words of support and farewell in your hearts. We ask for your continued love and support for Jin until he finishes his military service and comes back in good health,” Big Hit added.

The BTS member released the single “The Astronaut” as a gift to fans before his enlistment in October 2022. The song was co-written by Jin himself and Chris Martin of Coldplay, among others.

Jin debuted as the vocalist and visual of BTS in June 2013.  /ra
