Spongecola seemed to have struck up a friendship with SB19 after performing together at a New Year countdown concert in Pasay City.

The OPM rock band shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos with the P-pop supergroup on its official Instagram account on Monday, Jan. 2. Also included in Spongecola’s snaps are singer-actress Karylle and P-pop group KAIA.

“Year-end backstage tambay with #SB19, @kaia.officialph, @stevenhotchkiss, and our fave @anakarylle! Exciting 2023 ahead,” Spongecola wrote in the caption.

SB19 gushed about performing with Spongecola in a separate post on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

“It’s an honor to share the stage with OPM legend @SpongeColaPH […] Thank you for jamming with us,” they wrote.

The P-pop group also shared a series of photos with singers Darren Espanto and Zephanie Dimaranan in a separate post. “Thank you to everyone who welcomed the new year with us,” SB19 said.

Of course, fans of Spongecola and SB19 were overjoyed to see the interaction between the two groups.

A fan account going by the username @FelipPhotos speculated that both groups might release music together.

Meanwhile, Twitter user @jdc_0814 expressed their excitement about seeing both groups in one photo.

Spongecola, SB19, Espanto, Dimaranan, and KAIA were tapped to perform at a New Year countdown concert on Dec. 31, 2022 in Pasay City.

The OPM rock band recently dropped the single “Hometown” which is inspired by the popular K-drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” starring Kim Seon-ho and Shin Min-ah in December 2022.

Meanwhile, SB19 — composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin — revealed that their new album called “Pagtatag” is currently in the works. Details about their upcoming release are kept under wraps, although Pablo said the record will focus on the group’s foundation.  EDV
