Some actors go the extra mile to dedicate themselves to the role they’re playing and one such actor is Mon Confiado who traveled to Baguio and Pangasinan just to immerse in his character in “Nanahimik ang Gabi.”

“Noong sinabi ito ni direk Shugo Praico sa akin, at nalaman ko na ‘yung character na gagawin ko, sobrang excited ako. Nag-one-on-one meeting kami. Nilatag ko lahat ng inputs ko,” Confiado said during the movie’sgrand mediacon on Dec. 13. (When director Shugo Praico said it to me and I learned about the character that I would do, I was so excited. We had a one-on-ne meeting. I laid all my inputs).

As usual, Confiado prepared himself for the role of a mysterious killer by using method acting.

“Of course, ’yung aking the usual na ginagawa, part ng aking preparation ay ‘yung method acting na ginagawa ko, (Of course, the usual thing that I do, part of my preparation is the method acting which I do),” he said, revealing that he spent four days in Baguio and stayed in the mountains.

“Prior to that four days, mga ten days ako sa Pangasinan kasi part ’yan ng aking journey papunta doon sa mansion kung saan nandoon sina Heaven Peralejo at Ian Veneracion. Connected ’yun,” he said. (Prior to that four days, I stayed for ten days in Pangasinan because that’s part of my journey going to the mansion where Heaven Peralejo and Ian Veneracion were. It’s connected.)

But that’s not all. Confiado did not take a bath to play his role effectively.

“Nag-toothbrush naman ako,” he said.

“Actually, hindi ko inaalis ang costume ko during the entire shoot. Nasa Tagaytay kami.

Pag-uwi ko sa hotel, hindi ko na siya tinatanggal as part ng aking method. Nakakatulong siya sa akin as an actor,” he explained. (Actually, I didn’t take off my costume during the entire shoot. We were in Tagaytay. When I returned to the hotel, I didn’t take it off as part of my method. It helps me as an actor).

Produced by Rein Entertainment with Lino Cayetano and Phillip King as producers “Nanahimik ang Gabi” was written and directed by Shugo Praico. It is one of the official entries in the Metro Manila Film Festival, which opened on Christmas Day.  /ra
