It’s been a very colorful year. So many things have happened. With all the things I had to do each day, it’s a surprise I’ve not gone crazy yet. At one point, I’d get angry, then at another, I’d laugh really hard. My usual day can be really maddening for most people.

My life is like a movie—different scenes are shot in a day and not in chronological order. You are supposed to laugh in one scene, and then cry in the next.

My life may be maddening, but it’s also victorious. While I’m always ngarag, a huge fraction of it is still triumphant.

I think every year gets better and better. You should never let yourself feel down. How you feel today is totally up to you. You and no one else have total control of your life. If something unpleasant happens today, then there’s always tomorrow.

In my case, I lost a daughter because she got married, but then I gained a son. I’m also lucky because, in the case of my son Luis, his wife Jessy [Mendiola] will be giving birth very soon. My other son just left for New York a week ago after spending time with me here for 10 days. Also, I was gainfully employed. I’ve been very busy. Now, I know that as long as you put your head to it, there are better things to come. I’m actually excited for 2023.
