My daughter, Wednesday, is the one who’s more into Christmas festivities but she’s now based in Colorado (United States). So now I spend my holidays with Tonton (Gutierrez). But back when my daughter still lived here my problem was deciding whose home to spend Christmas. Now I just video call her while we celebrate and set off fireworks.
Tonton prefers to keep things simple. This year, I will spend time with him, his wife Glydel (Mercado) and my granddaughters, Aneeza and Aneeka. I’m excited because Aneeka, who’s now based in Singapore for school, will be home with us this Christmas.

I will spend the holiday season with my family on a cruise. We will be there for a couple of days and my wife (Lally Laurel) and I will also celebrate our 58th year of married life!

Usually, we travel abroad … Prior to the pandemic, we visited South Korea. But of course, because of the pandemic, we just stayed here the past two years. Christmas will be spent at home. I’m also busy with work—promoting our Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Family Matters.” I’m also doing other projects.
But in January, we will be going to Japan and we’re excited about that.

I just look forward to promoting my movie, “Nanahimik ang Gabi.” We will be doing a lot of block screenings. In a way, it’s nice to be still working during the holiday season, because it makes me feel that I’m doing well. Sometimes. I feel like it’s better to be busy than having nothing to do.
