Coming right on the reels of “A Family Affair” where she had a very dramatic role, Ivana Alawi feels that doing a comedy “Partners In Crime” with Vice Ganda is a perfect breather.

“Very different siya kasi coming from a very heavy drama tapos biglang naging comedy tapos si direk Cathy at si Meme Vice pa ang kasama, sobrang na-pressure ako. Sabi ko, parang hindi ko kaya. Sabi ko, di ko kakayanin na makipagsabayan,” she said during the grand mediacon for the movie Tuesday, December 13. (It’s very different because I’ve just done a very heavy drama then I’m doing this comedy being directed by Cathy and with Meme Vice as co-actor, I feel so pressured. I said, it’s like I can’t do it. I said, I can’t keep up).

It’s good that everyone on the production helped each other.

“Sa movie na ito, lahat kami ay nagtulungan. Si direk Cathy, super hands on siya talaga. Kapag may scenes na nahihirapan ako, talagang sumusuporta siya. Si Meme, pumu-push din siya. ‘O, eto ang gagawin. Kaya mo ‘yan.’ Very well supported ako in this movie and I’m very grateful sa team kasi naramdaman ko ang suporta nila,” she said. (In this movie, everyone helped. Director Cathy was hands on really. When there are scenes where I find it difficult, she supported me. Meme als pushed me. ‘O, this is what we will gonna do. You can do it.’ I am very well supported in this movie and I wam very grateful to the team because I can feel their support).

Doing comedy is a tad easier for Alawi.

“Nag-enjoy ako dito sa comedy kasi hindi ako masyadong umiiyak. Kasi doon sa teleserye, siguro ang iyakan namin is six times a day, sunod-sunod. Parang ‘yung breakfast, lunch and dinner ko is puro luha. Dito naman ay puro tawa, ang saya-saya, ang gaan-gaan,” she said. (I enjoyed in doing comedy because I dind’t cry a lot. It’s because in the TV series, our crying scene is about six times a day, simultaneously. It’s like my breakfast, lunch and dinner is tears. Here, it’s all laughter, it’s happier, it’s lighter).

“Partners In Crime” is one of the official entries in the Metro Manila Film Festival showing in cinemas on December 25. EDV
