Sunshine Garcia can finally heave a sigh of relief after her family’s “traumatic” experience when her one-year-old son Alexander was hospitalized due to urinary tract infection (UTI).

The comedian-TV host thanked those who sent their prayers and well-wishes to Alexander while giving an account of the experience her family went through, in an Instagram post last Monday, Dec. 5.

Garcia rushed her son to the hospital after experiencing symptoms such as high fever, vomiting and rashes. Alexander was cleared to go home after undergoing blood tests but upon arrival at their house, the child had seizures and was needed to be brought to the hospital again.

(I was holding my baby and he was just looking straight into my eyes. He did not even blink even when I was wiping his whole face. He then turned bluish and his eyes rolled. I felt like he was unresponsive for a few seconds.)

The medical staff immediately gave the child oxygen and medication which helped him become stable and breath properly.

(That was when the situation finally sank in. I was not able to speak, it felt like we were traumatized after what happened. So whenever he has a fever and suddenly chills, we get nervous.)

Thankfully, her son was  finally allowed to go home after five days in the hospital.

Garcia noted that her son’s condition was caused by an infection which he got from his feces. The TV host then gave tips on how this can be prevented as well as how parents should handle seizures, as advised by doctors.

Garcia and her husband, actor-politician Alex Castro, welcomed Alexander in November 2021. Garcia gave birth to their firstborn Axel in 2018.
