Angelica Panganiban on her breastfeeding journey, motherhood: ‘What hairbrush?’
With her two-month old baby Amila Sabine, Angelica Panganiban has learned what motherhood is all about.
Panganiban shared her journey to motherhood in an Instagram post today, November 22, by showing a photo of her breastfeeding her baby.
“Two months into motherhood, at eto mga natutunan ko,” she said in her post. (Two months into motherhood, this is what I’ve learned).
Panganiban shared the things she had to do before breastfeeding her baby.
“Bago ka mag padede kapag 4am na, mag sipilyo, hilamos at umihi ka na. You’ll never know kung papayag pa ba siyang magpababa sayo (ibulong mo na din kay Lord na sana makaligo ka sa araw na ito),” she said. (Before you breastfeed when it’s 4 a.m. already, brush your teeth, wash your face and pee. You’ll never know if she will let you put her down [whisper to God that you hope to take a bath on this day.])

Also, you need to gather things around yourself when you are breastfeeding such as TV and aircon remote, books, phone, charger, water and snacks.
“Pangatlo, hindi ka na makakapag damit. Tanggapin mo na, na naka bra ka na lang hanggat manawa siyang dumede sayo. Kasama na rin dito ang pag suklay ng buhok. What is hair brush na po tayo. Opo,” she said. (Third, you will not be able to dress up anymore. Accept it, that you’re in your bra until she finishes feeding from you. Also, included is brushing your hair. What is hair brush here. Yes.)
Fourth, one needs to eat plenty and fast, but should avoid making noise because the baby might wake up.
“At, matulog kapag tulog si baby. Subukang pakalmahin ang isip. I know madami tayong gustong gawin at ma accomplish. Pero, tanggapin mo nang hindi ka naman talaga makakatayo sa kinauupuan mo. Kaya matuto kang matulog ng nakaupo,” she said. (And, sleep while your baby is sleeping. Try to calm the mind. I know we need many things to do and to accomplish. But, accept it, you cannot stand up where you are seated. That’s why you need to learn how to sleep while seated.)
With that, Panganiban said mothers deserve all the acclamation.
“Saludo ako sa lahat ng ina. Mabuhay tayong lahat,” she said. (I salute all the mothers. May we all live.)
Panganiban gave birth to Amila Sabine last September 20, her first child with partner Gregg Homan. EDV
